For 18 years Helen explored the world by boat. As she travelled she experimented with the various art forms she encountered from the countries she visited. This included the technique of weaving with pine needles, which she has perfected for more than a decade.
In April 2013 she created ‘Helen’s shed’; converting one of the fishermen’s huts at Felixstowe Ferry into her studio, where visitors are welcome. Using local pine needles Helen continues to practice the art of pine needle weaving, often in combination with hand built ceramics to give the 8000 year old art form a new dimension.
She creates artwork inspired by Suffolk and the sea using elements she collects from the natural world, both physically and visually.
